Obituary of Helen Reid
Helen L. Reid, 87, of Jackson passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at home. Helen was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts. She had live in Ashland, MA, Natick, MA, and Morristown, NJ before moving to Glen Rock, NJ, where she raised her family. Helen retired to Monroe Twp. before settling to Jackson in 2009. She was a Tumor Registrar at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood for over twenty-five years retiring in 1993. Helen was a former parishioner of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Glen Rock and The Nativity of Our Lord, Monroe Twp. She was a volunteer at St. Peter's Healthcare System Adult Day Center at Monroe. Helen was an avid croquet player, loved to square dance, and was a talented oil painter of landscapes.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Roger in 1982, a brother Charles Moore, and two sisters, Mary Galarelli and Dorothy Vaughan. She is survived by her children, Eileen Murphy of Roanoke, Virginia, Nancy Finnerty of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, William Reid and his wife, Brenda of Chetopa, Kansas, Janice Reid and her husband, Douglas Brown of Palm Coast, Florida, Margaret Kilduff and her husband, Thomas of Freehold Township and Andrew Reid and his wife, Patricia of Freehold Township; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Helen may be made to St. Peter's Adult Day Center, St. Peter's Foundation, 254 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
