Obituary of Terrance Morcom
Terrance W. Morcom, 68, of Neptune City died surrounded by his family at NY Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center on Friday, September 6, 2013. Terry was born and raised in Carbondale, PA and moved to New Jersey in 1960. In 1968, he and his wife, Barbara, settled in Neptune City. Terry was the principle of SAMAA Consultants. He also worked for numerous heavy construction companies throughout the state. Terry had a key role in building many of the roads, bridges, tunnels and highways we drive on today. Terry was a life member of the United Fire Company No. 1, Neptune City, in which he served as chief in 1983. He was also a member and past president of the Fire Company's Relief Association and the Exempt Association in which he served as secretary for over twenty-five years. Terry was an avid golfer and member of the Bella Vista Country Club. As a member of the Shark River Beach and Yacht Club, he served on the scholarship committee and chaired the annual fluke tournament. Terry was a founding member of the WaKeMo Construction Ass. He had a passion for traveling, loved to ski, couldn't dance, taught himself to play the accordion, sang badly and was always the life of the party. Most of all, his family and friends were his life.
Terry is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Barbara, his children, Kim Burke and her husband, James of LaPlata, MD, Andrea Bast and her husband, Andrew of New York City, and Craig Morcom and his fiancée, Julia Ascough of Avon; five adoring grandchildren, Samantha Marie Burke, Brandan McAndrew Burke, Abby Michelle Burke, Anderson Morcom Burke, and Arman Henry Bast; many cousins and treasured friends.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
