Obituary of Helen Flanagan

HELEN L. FLANAGAN, 88, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Flanagan was born and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., until moving to Silvermead in Freehold Township in 1955. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold, and an active volunteer at St. Rose's School. She was a member of Silvermead Club as well as the Silvermead Auxiliary to Centrastate Medical Center. Mrs. Flanagan was also a co-leader in the Girl Scouts, Freehold Township. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Flanagan in 1990. Surviving are one son, William Flanagan, Morristown; one daughter, Nancy Flanagan, Laurel, Md.; one brother, George Leavell, Floral Park, N.Y.; one sister, Gertrude Albin, Huntington Station, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, McLean Street, Freehold. Interment to follow in Brig. Gen. Wm C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
