Obituary of Vincent Dowd
VINCENT T. DOWD, 64, of MANCHESTER, died Saturday, Feb. 9, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Mr. Dowd was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Westbrook, Conn.; Flemington; and Freehold Township until two and a half years ago. He was a former communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. He was a former member of the Westbrook, Conn., Knights of Columbus. Mr. Dowd was a U.S. Navy Veteran and he had a master's degree in both applied math and statistics and computer science. He was an electrical engineer with Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore) from 1985 until his retirement in 2002.
He was predeceased by his son, Timothy J. Dowd, in 1998. Surviving are his wife, Gloria "Kathy" Dowd; three daughters, Ann Gosselin of Northfield, Maine; Tina Caruso of North Yarmouth, Maine; Mary Dowd of Manchester; one brother, Stephen J. Dowd of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one sister, Rita Farrelly of Leesburg, Fla.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Rd., Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
