Obituary of Howard Friscia
Howard Joseph Friscia, 88, of Nokomis, FL and Freehold, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Mr. Friscia was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Mahopac, NY before moving to Surrey Downs, Freehold and Nokomis, FL in 1999. Howard was a renaissance man, owning his own construction company, working as a real-estate broker and investor, and as a greenhouse grower until his retirement. As an artist and inventor, Howard enjoyed wood carving and painting memories of his travels. He was an avid golfer, a world traveler, and loved to fish on his boat in Florida, but most of all his family was his life.
Howard was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 2008, a brother, Leonard Friscia in 2001, and a sister, Rose Friscia in 2011. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Karen Friscia of Pittsburgh, PA, and Gerard and Kathleen Friscia of Stamford, CT; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gregory Gibson of Freehold Township; eight grandchildren, Stacey Calvetti and her husband, Chris, Lisa Richmond and her husband, Daniel, Katie O'Brien and her husband, Timothy, Lauren Friscia, Gerard Friscia, Jr., Gregory Gibson and his wife, Dawn, Jeffrey Gibson, and Katherine Gibson; six great grandchildren, Adrianna, Logan, Benjamin, Jacob, Matthew, and Julia; and his dear friend, Marilyn Catania.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 8:30 AM for the procession to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, 1 West Main Street, Farmingdale for his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass. Interment to follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
