Obituary of Peter Pizza
PETER "AQUAMAN" F. PIZZA, 47, of FREEHOLD, passed Saturday, March 1, at his residence. Mr. Pizza was born in Jersey City, and lived in Asbury Park before moving to Freehold in 1995. Peter attended St. Peter's College, Jersey City. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen at New Jersey Transit, as well as a member of the Allenhurst Beach Club. Peter also belonged to U.S. Masters Swimming and was a volunteer swimming instructor at Fort Monmouth. Peter was active in support of his daughters' sporting activities. He was an electronic technician at New Jersey Transit for the past 24 years.
He was predeceased by his Father, Peter F. Pizza Sr. in January, 2001. Surviving are his wife, Lauraine of Freehold; two daughters, Emily Catherine Pizza and Jillian Grace Pizza, both at home; mother, Lorraine Pizza of Whiting; two sisters, Joanne Pizza of Princeton and Diane and her husband, Robert Boehm of Smithville; mother and father-in-law, Bruce and Emily Schalk of Whiting; a sister-in-law, Claudia Schalk of Eatontown; a niece, Jennifer Boehm of Smithville; and a nephew, Robert Boehm of Smithville.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at noon Wednesday at The First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, 118 W. Main St., Freehold. Interment will be private.
