Obituary of Janet Long

Janet F. Long, 86, formerly of Neptune City passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Janet, the daughter of James G. and Florence (nee Buckingham) Bennett, was born in Neptune and was a lifelong Neptune City resident before moving to Toms River in 2002. She worked for the Neptune City Police Department as a Crossing Guard, and was a charter member of the Neptune City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Long; an infant daughter; and her sisters, Ruth Burke and her husband, John and Carol Hall and her husband, George. She is survived by her son, Jack Long and his wife, Laurel of Neptune City; four grandchildren, Stephen Long and his wife, Alyse of Raritan, Brian Long and his wife, Lauren of McGaheysville, VA, Kevin Long and his fiancée, Dani Pappas of Neptune City, and Brittany Long of Neptune City; two great granddaughters, Addison Long and Rylyn Long; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2012 with the Rev. Larry Oksten officiating. Interment to follow in Glendola Cemetery, Wall Twp.
