Obituary of Suzanne Micallef
SUZANNE "SUE" J. MICALLEF, 51, of HOWELL, died Friday, May 2 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Sue was born in Newark and had lived in Edison before settling to Howell in 1987. Most recently she was the director of nursing at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold Township. Prior to that, Sue was a nurse at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and a hospice nurse throughout Monmouth County. For the most part she was a mom to her four sons. Sue was a parishioner at St. Veronica's Catholic Church, Howell. She was very much involved with her sons' baseball and ice hockey activities. She had a love of gardening and flowers.
She was predeceased by her mother, Theresa in 2005. Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Dr. Donald M. Micallef; her four sons, twins Eric and Scott, Donald P., and Tyler at home; her father Peter LaPlaca of Howell; her sister Rosanne Coffield and her husband, David of Medford Lakes; and her sister-in-law Marissa Schiavello and her husband, Robert, and their children, Talia, Jordan, and Emma of Howell.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at The Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Highway 9 North, Howell. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, Marlboro. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Sue may be made to The Church of St. Veronica.
