Obituary of Frederick Scott
Frederick D. Scott, 84, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, NJ. Frederick "Scotty" was born in Urbana, Illinois and had lived in Philadelphia, Wilkes Barre, PA, Kearny, East Brunswick and Champaign, Illinois before moving to Freehold Township in 1991. Scotty was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was an electrician and a member of the I.B.E.W for over 40 years retiring in 1994. While living in Illinois Scotty worked as an electrician at the University of Illinois. He was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Freehold where he served as a deacon, head usher and on the building and grounds committee. Scotty was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center in the Information Center.
Frederick was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Scott in 2013; three brothers, Paul, Robert, and James Scott; and a sister, Charlotte VanDyke. He is survived by two daughters, Kimberley Lanouette and her husband, Roger of Pennington and Venessa Rittman and her husband, Scott of Mountainside; a son; ten grandchildren, Meghan, Katie, Megan, Matt, Michelle, Trevor, Drew, Laine, Brittany and Conor; a brother, George Scott of Connecticut; three sisters, Charlene Diggs of Mississippi, Nancy Weidner of Illinois and Lucille Gray of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 8:30 PM. Interment will be in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown at the Chapel on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
