Obituary of Ernest Brinkman

Ernest W. Brinkman, 84, of Howell passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Ernest was born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, moving to Howell after he retired. He worked for Continental Insurance Company for 43 years, the last 10 years of which he was Vice President of Claims countrywide. Ernest was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. After retiring, he enjoyed playing golf with a few of his buddies from Staten Island. Ernest was a member, council president, confirmation teacher and an usher at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Holmdel. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Grace (Ekeland) Brinkman of Howell; three sons, Paul Brinkman and his wife, Laurie, Peter Brinkman and his wife, Regina and Philip Brinkman; a daughter, Bonnie Culler and her husband, Scott; and eight grandchildren Nicole Robbins and her husband, Tim, Brittany Brinkman, Rachel Brinkman, Amanda Brinkman, Erika Brinkman, Cassandra Culler, Brooke Culler and Kyle Culler. A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 112 Middletown Road, Holmdel on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. The arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
