Obituary of Frank Major
Frank Major, 86, of Freehold passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 6, 2014. Frank was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to the Dongan Hills section of Staten Island. He settled to Surrey Downs, Freehold in 1999. Frank served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II during the occupation of Japan. Working at 70 Pine Street in New York City, he retired from Local 94 of the International Operating Engineers. Frank learned the value of hard work leaving the sixth grade to support his family. He was a self-educated man and a jack of all trades but most of all he was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather to his family.
Frank was predeceased by a son, Frank William Major in 1979. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; his children, Peter Major and his wife, Barbara of Freehold Township, Laura Migliore and her husband, Phil of Old Bridge, and Lisa Katz of Old Bridge; ten grandchildren, Peter Major, Dana Major, Amanda Perelman and her husband, Eugene, Philip Migliore, Frankie Migliore, Nicole Migliore, Kristen Katz, Samantha Katz, and Michael Katz; two brothers, Larry Major of Long Island, NY and Billy Major of Staten Island, NY; a sister, Annabelle Howell of Marlboro; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 8:30 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass.
