Obituary of Josephine Saker
JOSEPHINE A. SAKER, 87, of FREEHOLD, died Tuesday, May 6, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Saker was born in Torrington, Conn. and had lived in Long Island, N.Y. before moving to Freehold in 1956. Along with her late husband, Peter J. Saker Sr., she worked in the family's construction business from 1956 to 1995. She was a communicant at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale and a member of the Optimist Club of Freehold.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter J. Saker Sr., in 1998; her sister, Sadie Saker, in 1993; and her brother-in-law, John Saker, in 2003. Surviving are two sons, Peter J. Saker Jr. and his wife Bette of Manalapan, and Louis J. Saker and his wife Patricia of Freehold; two daughters, Paula Escott and her husband TJ of Los Angeles, Calif., and Catherine J. DelAversano and her husband Anthony of Freehold Township; a sister, Helen Haddad of Torrington, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Kristen Saker, Peter J. Saker III, Erin Oese, Saker Klippsten, Cameron Klippsten, Kate DelAversano, and Anthony DelAversano; and four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Mia, Gabrielle, and Luke.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Rite of Committal followed by her 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, Main Street, Farmingdale, with Rev. Joseph Kubiak officiating. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
