Obituary of James Amalfa
James "Pop" M. Amalfa, 87, formerly of Farmingdale passed away at home on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pop was a lifelong Farmingdale resident until moving to Freehold in 1999. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life retiring in 1999 from Mosaic Trucking, Cliffwood Beach. Pop was instrumental in forming the Pinelanders Soccer Club 40 years ago. He was an avid NASCAR fan but the greatest joy in his life came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pop was predeceased by his two brothers, Joseph and Albert Amalfa and two sisters, Rose Lefkowich and Julia Ascough. He is survived by his wife, Regina "Sis" Amalfa; three sons, Ronald and his wife, Karen of Farmingdale, John and his wife, Terry of Brick and Michael and his wife, Sharon of Farmingdale; eight grandchildren, Ronald J, Timothy, Anthony, Alison, Randi, Jared, Jaime and Jeremy.; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Nicholas Amalfa and his wife, Kay of Lakewood.
A gathering of friends and family at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
