Obituary of Maria Hernandez
Maria Teresa Hernandez, 91, a longtime resident of Union City and of Freehold, New Jersey, passed away on May 30, 2014.
Maria was born February 13, 1923 in Las Villas, Cuba to the late Antonio and Maria Teresa Arechavaleta. She emigrated to the United States in 1956 where she lived and worked in New York. On November 28, 1959 she married Andres Hernandez Ballerin and together they made their home in Union City until his passing in 2009.
Maria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Joseph Tretler of Freehold, NJ; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Edward Galvan of Secaucus, NJ; grandchildren, McKinley Grace Tretler and Zachary Joseph Tretler; two sisters Adela and Iraelia; and a number of nieces and nephews, among other family members.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold, NJ on June 4, 2014 from 9:00 AM until her 11:00 AM funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McClean Street, Freehold, NJ.
