Obituary of Dorothy Hartman

Dorothy Murray Hartman, 95, of Farmingdale passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Bella Terra, Jackson. Dorothy was born in Lancaster, PA and had lived in Phoenixville, PA, Millersburg, PA, and Sellersville, PA before moving to Farmingdale in 1959. She received a bachelor's degree in social work from Georgian Court University. She was a social worker at the Monmouth County Board of Social Services from 1978 to 1993. For many years, she was a member of both the Board of Education and the Local Assistance Board in Farmingdale. In her most recent years, she volunteered at Joshua House Food and Clothing Pantry in Farmingdale. Dorothy was an active member of both St. Catherine's parish in Farmingdale and St. Mary's parish in Colts Neck. Dorothy was predeceased by two sisters, Eloise Dunmore and Mary Henkel and a brother, Charles Murray. She is survived by six children, Charles Hartman and his wife, Li-Yun of Schenectady, NY, Andrew Hartman and his wife, Janet of Towson, MD, James Hartman of New York City, Anne Hartman of Howell, Paul Hartman of East Brunswick, and Mary Hartman and her husband, David Wesolowski of St. John's, U.S. Virgin Islands; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, 1 North Main Street, Farmingdale.
