Obituary of Virginia Henwood
Virginia Mary Henwood, 78, of Cream Ridge, NJ passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice @ St. Clare's Hospital, Dover, NJ. Virginia was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Edgewater and Marlboro before moving to Cream Ridge five years ago. She was a 3rd Order Carmelite, the Past President of the Bishop's Synod for the Diocese of Trenton, a Spiritual Director, and a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Virginia and her husband, Deacon Gerald V. Henwood ran the RCIA for over 10 years at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Deacon Gerald V. Henwood in 2005 and a son, John Joseph Henwood in 1983. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Griswold and her husband, Michael of Carmel, Indiana, Dianne Torri and her husband, Michael of Jackson, NJ, Christopher Henwood and his wife, Lynne of Long Valley, NJ, Claire Gellman and her husband, Gary of New Egypt, NJ, Mary Nogami and her husband, Eric of Perkasie, PA and Amy Kostyz and her husband, John of Brick, NJ; twenty-one grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers, John Finley of Middletown, NJ and Patrick Finley of Spring, Texas.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to the Birthright-Freehold, 49 East Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
