Obituary of Dorothy Sigler
Dorothy Sigler, 89, of Freehold Borough passed away at home at the Brookside Assisted Living on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Dorothy was born in the Bronx and had lived there, Hightstown, Howell Township, Freehold Borough and Marlboro before returning to Freehold Borough settling in the Brookside Community. She was a graduate of Georgian Court University class of 1958. Dorothy received her Master's Degrees in Education from Rutgers University in Reading and Guidance. She retired in 1986 from the Brick Township Board of Education after 28 years of service. Dorothy first taught English, and then was a Reading Specialist, and then retired as a Guidance Counselor at both Township High Schools. She was a member of the Temple Rodeph Torah, Marlboro.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; a daughter, Ruth Ellen; three brothers, Barry, Murray and Sidney; and a sister, Hannah. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Sylvia Sigler; three grandchildren, Stephanie Sigler and her boyfriend, Jay Hiza, Stephen Sigler and his girlfriend, Ashley Loehmann and Allison Knapp; three great grandchildren, Briana, Zoe and Elijah; a son-in-law, George Knapp and his wife, Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Freehold Hebrew Cemetery, Freehold Township.
