Obituary of Sophie Furey
Sophie Furey, 81, of Jackson died Tuesday, (Dec. 30, 2008) at Bartley Healthcare & Rehab., Jackson.
Mrs. Furey was born in Perth Amboy and had lived there before moving to Howell in 1988 and then to Jackson.
She was an active parishioner and former Eucharist Minister of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She attended daily Mass faithfully until she stopped driving.
She was a member of the Howell Seniors and the Senior Club at The Villages. Mrs. Furey was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She worked in the office at Revlon, Edison, for many years until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband, William; and three grandsons, Matthew "Buck" Anton, Ronald Rovira and James E. Anton, Jr.
Surviving are a son, William F. Furey, Jr. of Verona, Pa.; two daughters, Kathleen Kutay of Perth Amboy, and Eileen Anton of Jackson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
