Obituary of Martha Cottrell
Martha "Marty" E. (Lewis) Cottrell, 91, of Farmingdale, NJ, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp., NJ. Mrs. Cottrell was born and raised in the Jerseyville Section of Howell Twp. and had lived there until marrying in 1938 when she moved to Spotswood. She then moved to Farmingdale in 1980. She was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1934, and ran the Class Reunions for the last 5 years. Mrs. Cottrell was a former member of the Spotswood Reformed Church and played the piano for their Sunday School. Mrs. Cottrell was currently a member of the Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, Farmingdale, NJ. She loved camping with the Sundowners Clubs. Mrs. Cottrell was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, LeRoy W., in 2008; and her brothers, Henry "Hanky" and Everett Lewis. She is survived by 3 daughters & 2 sons-in-law, Lois & Gerhard Cremer of Augusta, GA, Janet & Paul Shelton of Howell, NJ, Virginia Conklin of Howell, NJ; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Visiting at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp., NJ on Sunday, April 19, 2009, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11am on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Marty may be made to the Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church, 40 Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ 07727 and would be appreciated.
