Condolences
In fifteen years of nursing,I have taken care of and gotten to know many different kinds of people. There have been times where certain patients have made their way past my professional self and settled down in my heart. Betty was one of those people. When she first came to my facility, she was a tough cookie and set in her ways. Betty and I figured out together what we could do to maintain her independence while accepting the help she required.Betty always made my day better. If I was having a particularly stressful shift, I would go talk to her for a few minutes. Betty would give me the biggest grin and hold my hand and that would get me through the day. I only knew Betty during the last years of her life, but I know she was a wonderful mother when I think of her family, especially her daughters,Barbara and Sandi. Betty would talk about them to me and her eyes would light up and you could tell how much she loved them. Some medicine a doctor cannot prescribe, love between a mother and her daughters is one of them. I will miss Betty but will hold her in my heart and think of her beautiful blue eyes and big smile often.
Barbara, I was so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I have warm memories of the many hours spent at your home.
