Condolences
I had the privilege of working with Artie at the Western Monmouth Campus of Brookdale Community College. Each afternoon when he arrived to work in our Information Commons, Artie would stop by my office with his Dunkin Donuts coffee and a doughnut. Often he would offer to share it with me. He always talked about his wife and family with love and appreciation. I will always remember Artie as a kind, pleasant, dedicated man who had such interesting stories to tell. My deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. I'm sorry I was away at the time of his passing and only learned of it today (1/21). May God comfort you all. Sincerely, Helen
Dear Reinhard family, I had the honor to work with Artie in the 1990s on the 100th Anniversary book for the Borough of Allenhurst. Artie came to me through a Brookdale Community College Career Services internship -- a special project which he needed to finish one of his several Associate degrees. His internship referral was provided by Lynn Eyerman, Cooperative Education Coordinator, and his internship reference, an absolutely glowing one, was sent by Literature Professor Janice Antczak, who also taught Library Studies. What a wonderful job Artie did for me! He was absolutely tireless, travelling to Newark and Trenton to search out facts in the libraries there, copying just about everything to be found in Monmouth County, and picking up threads from his research that led to many new facts and resources. The resulting book was a remarkable tribute to his research and interpersonal skills -- he truly "never met a stranger." The Borough, and rightly so, honored him with a plaque. It should have been a chair in the Allenhurst Borough Hall! In later years, Artie became a colleague, sharing his knowledge with our students in the Western Monmouth Higher Education Center library. I cherish the memory of all of our times together and am honored to have known him.
