Condolences
Lillian, you were right that George's guitar playing was great entertainment. We all loved it. By the way - I wish I had gotten a chance to see you - I remember when we were kids - you were a bit older and were always great fun. Back to George...I must have been 9 or 10 & can remember turning his sheet music for him. Memories: Great potato salad - cut with milk. I loved it! The thinnest sliced tomatoes ever. RE: Politics - there was a parade in which they used my white Chevy convertible & George sat atop the back seat. I used the bullhorn. A campaign h'q was a block away - cor Welland & Chester. He always came through for me when I needed a ride to church. Picture raising six kids with very little money; could not have been easy - but they did it --and they turned out to be the BEST kids. While in the hospital I said to George, 'you have six of the best kids.' His response was, 'They are very very good - but not the best' - I am here to tell you, they are the BEST...and their spouses are terrific - they supported them and George beautifully. George was a lucky man.
Sending my sympathy to the entire Mazauskas extended family. Your Dad was such a wonderful man. Over the many years that I had the pleasure of spending time with him, I loved the long conversations we had together. Your dad, uncle, brother is now at peace and with Our Lord. My prayers to all of you that you may also find peace and comfort at this time.
May the joyful spirit and love of life that my beloved brother, George, lived by be remembered forever by family. My thoughts were with all of his children and grandchildren and Stella on this sad day.
George would practice on his guiter upstairs in his bedroom in our house on Jelliff Ave. in Newark. His "music room" was right over the dining room and as he would keep the beat with his "heavy foot" the chandelair hanging from the ceiling in the dining room would shake. Grandma eventually would holler up to George that if he doesn't stop the whole ceiling would come down, chandelair and all. It was great entertainment listening to him play his guitar.
As to this picture showing Lenny, Albie, Ritchie, George, Barbara, Lillian, Genny and Flo, I can't remember the occasion (although George is wearing a crown-perhaps his b-day. If so, which one?) If anyone can tell me, use my e-mail cohenpal@aol.com.
Aunt Lillian and Uncle Jerry, son Steven & Sue and dgtr.Jennifer and dgtr.Michelle & Steve and their children, Riley and Sydney; dgtr.Sandra and her son Russell Aaron; dgtr. Laura & Jim and children Andrew and Lily wish to express their condolences and deepest sympathy for the passing of George, beloved brother, uncle, and father. He will be deeply missed.
Uncle George and Aunt Stella loved to get together with my parents Florence and Alec Galbraith to play cards. They would get together at least once a month.
Uncle George loved play and getting together with sister, Florence.
