Obituary of George Mazauskas
George F. Mazauskas, 85, of Leonardo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, surrounded by his children at CareOne at Wall. Mr. Mazauskas was born in Newark and had lived in Roselle, Irvington and Highlands prior moving to Leonardo 25 years ago.
He was a Packaging Technician for Jiffy Packaging in Hillside, NJ, for 30 years. He was also a former Irvington Councilman. Mr. Mazauskas was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran serving during World War II.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Joan Lacey Mazauskas, in May, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Stella Mazauskas, of Leonardo; 3 sons, Lawrence Mazauskas of Boca Raton, FL, George Mazauskas, Jr. of Belmar, NJ, and Matthew Mazauskas of Howell, NJ; 3 daughters, Deborah Ahearn, Lauretta Butler and Mary Anne Mazauskas all of Altamonte Springs, FL; 12 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter. Mr. Mazauskas was the third of twelve siblings. His family meant everything to him and was a role model to all who knew him.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the funeral home. Committal will be private.
