Obituary of E. Franklin Barkalow
E. Franklin "Frank" Barkalow, Jr., 69, of Howell Twp. passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Twp. Frank was a life-long resident of Howell. He was an operating engineer for Gallo Asphalt, Irvington, for 22 years. Frank was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 825, Newark. In retirement, he worked at F&B Lawn & Landscape with his son. Frank was the past president of the Monmouth County 4-H Club and a 1990 recipient of a heart transplant at the University of Pennsylvania.
He was predeceased by his parents, E. Franklin, Sr. and Hedda Barkalow, and a brother, William J. Barkalow. He survived by his wife, Diane Barkalow, of Howell; a son, E. Franklin "Frankie" Barkalow, III of Howell; two daughters, Dawn Milne and her husband, James, of Jackson and Tara Ronkiewicz and her husband, Gregg, of Jackson; four grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Kelsey and Ashley; three brothers, Robert Barkalow and his wife, Sue, of Farmingdale; Randolph Barkalow of Freehold Twp. and Doug Barkalow of Freehold Twp.; two sisters, Hedda Volkmann, and her husband, Bernard, of Howell and Dolores Landfear of Howell.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. on Friday, June 10, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Howell Twp.
