Obituary of Dorothy Barcellona
Dorothy C. Barcellona, 83, of Farmingdale, passed away on Friday, July 1st, at the Imperial Care Center, Neptune Twp. surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Barcellona was born in Keasby, NJ, and had lived in Woodbridge for 43 years before moving to Farmingdale, in 1984.
She was a quality control supervisor for Standard Plastic (Mattel Toys), South Plainfield before moving to Farmingdale in 1984 with her daughter and her family. She worked at the family's greenhouses and flower stand where she became well-known and recognized in the area. Mrs. Barcellona was also a sales person at Sterns, Monmouth Mall, and Burlington Coat Factory, Freehold Twp. before retiring in 2004. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Barcellona was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. She was active in the Howell United Republican Club and other civic activities including delivering meals to senior citizens. She was a faithful Mets fan.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail D. Panek and her husband, Zig, of Farmingdale and two grandsons, Jonathan Z. Panek and Christopher A. Panek both of Farmingdale. A devoted grandmother to her grandsons, she never missed any of their sporting events; especially football and wrestling.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. on Thursday, July 7th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at 8:30 AM on Friday, July 8th, at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, North Main Street, Farmingdale.
