Condolences
Kismet brought Mike and me together more than 30+ years ago. We worked together, played together and our families became close friends and we have shared many happy and fun times together.
Mike's philosophy was simple
"Work Hard and Play Hard", and he faithfully lived it. In the work atmosphere he was calm and cool and got things done in a friendly manner gaining everyones respect. When he faced a concern at work he would frequently advice, 'Ed, let me worry about it, there is no point in both of us worrying'. During lengthy discussions, he would suddenly stop and say, " Ed, you and Nadia ask too many questions' and I would respond, "thanks for the compliment".Mike possessed uncanny skill with numbers and computers and Mike's family can be proud of his entrepreneurial success in building a flourishing business.
Play hard he definitely did and he was Mr.Sports excelling in tennis, racket ball, golf, sking, running including the 2006 NY Marathon. I can remember an incident when the club we played tennis in was closed and so we went to Kean college's tennis courts which were also locked. Mike was not going to give up and lifted the chain enclosure and we crawled in. Ten minutes later the campus police was checking us out and we were visualizing the headlines in the Union paper to read, 'ACuPowder executives playing tennis illegally'. Mike, Nadia, my wife Niloufer and I would attend our industries Fall Management Conferences every year. We went to exotic resorts, eat at fancy restaurants and did fun stuff, such as night canoeing in Puerto Rico and Hot Air Balloning in Nevada.
Mike's love of life and love of family was clearly evident and he lived the American Dream. He will be greatly missed and remembered.
"God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills were hard to climb
He gently closed your loving eyes
And whispered, "Peace Be Thine."
The golden gate stood open,
He saw you needed rest,
God's garden must be beautiful,
Because He picked you as the best.
Your life is a beautiful memory,
Your absence a silent grief.
You sleep in God's beautiful garden
In the sunshine of perfect peace."
To the Kudryk Family: I would like to offer this message of sympathy to you, on the recent loss of Michael Kudryk. I was the swim participant for another relay team in the New York City Triathlon on August 7th. I just wanted to tell you about the atmosphere that pervaded the relay team swimmers before the start of our relay team group. It was very positive and supportive. Despite some rain and wind, we were all in good spirits, looking forward to the chance to start the race. We were all talking and joking before the start, calming our nerves and getting prepared to begin the swim. I belief it is safe to say that Michael Kudryk was doing what he wanted to do, a culmination of months of training and preparation, fulfilling a dream of competing in a triathlon with his family on a team. Triathlon is normally a sport of individuals, but the relay division makes it an affair of family and friends, and the feeling of friendship and support in the relay team transition area was palpable before the race. I did not have the privilege of knowing him personally, but after learning of the tragic circumstances the day after the race, I read about him in several media reports, and I regret that I did not have the honor of knowing him. I am very sorry for your loss, and I pray for God's blessing on your family, and for the soul of Michael Kudryk. With deepest sympathy, Frank Gonynor Sugar Land, Texas
Dear Family of Michael, I am a photographer that has photographed many marathons and triathlons. I am usually stationed at the finish line and see the incredible amount of sense of accomplishment for crossing the finish line. The good news is that he was doing something that he loved especially being able to share with his family. Michael is now on a new journey. I will light a candle in his honor and to his family tonight. Our prayers are for all of you. I know that all the participants and staff share the grief for your loss.
Dear Chris and family, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. An unexpected death is most difficult as you have no forewarning. Peace be with you and your family as you go through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I enjoyed working with him on MPIF activities and I felt very comfortable turning over the Chair of the Finance Committee to him back in the late 1990's. He is definitely missed.
Dear Nadia and family, I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Mike was the greatest boss hands down. He was very understanding, down to earth, easy to talk to, and the list goes on. ACuPowder will not be the same without him and his absence will be felt for a long time. The world could use more men like him and he will be truly missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
We were neighbors of Mike and Nadia for nearly 20 years and we literally grew up together while our children were born and went through school. Mike and Nadia were always the first ones we would turn to whenever we had news to share with special friends and they were like family to us.
We both had very large extended families and the holidays were always hectic trying to fit everything in. But one tradition we never wavered on was our Christmas Eve visits. Regardless of how much family was in town or where we may have needed to go, Christmas never started until we were able to get together to raise a glass to friendship, love and our children.
I can simply say that through the years, Mike and I had our rough spots ( both trying to do the best for their respective company ) but more than anything, we laughed alot.
Both in e-mails and phone calls....Mike always put a smile on my face with his family stories.
Always his wife and kids...always the loves of his life. I never met them but felt I knew them through his tales.
He taught me alot about running a business...through he swore my methods were borderline insane. He was right of course...but for us it worked...and it worked because he stood with us.
When so many would not have in rough financial times...he ALWAYS did.
He was a tough task master....but he never turned his back on us.
His belief kept us alive through bad times....through the very bad years.
I owe him so much.
We are growing again as a company....and the memory of his laugh and lessons will keep us; keep ME pushing forward.
How do you thank someone for your future?
I will miss him greatly.
Dear Nadia & family , My deepest sympathy goes out to you all . Mike was the BEST boss i ever had. He had a open door policy and i could talk to him about anything. I would go into his office to talk business and walk out forgetting why i went in there in the 1st place he would have some funny story or talk about a t.v.show . He spoke of you all with such great admiration. Mike was 1 of a kind and truly will be missed.
Dearest Tiffany/Fred and the Kudryk family- we are deeply saddened by your loss. We hope you find some comfort in our thoughts and prayers, and knowing we are here to support you however we can. Along with all of my colleagues at SCM Metal Products and Ecka Granules, we were deeply saddened to here of Mike's passing. I got to know Mike and Nadia through MPIF and very much enjoyed the time we spent together. Recently I had a chance to spend more time with Mike in New Jersey and in North Carolina and it is easy to understand why so many people were so fond of him. His smile and attitude were infectious and he will most definitely be missed by all of us both professionally and more importantly, personally. Barton and Mare White
Mike You were great to work for and your loss will be felt at Acupowder for a long time because of the person you were. RIP George and Barbara Hasko
My heartfelt condolences go out to Chris and the entire Kudryk family. I don't know the family but I work with Chris and can attest to the the great love and respect he had for his Dad. There was always a warm smile and twinkle in his eye when he spoke of plans they had or activities they had enjoyed together. It never failed to remind me of good times I shared with my Dad (especially golf) throughout his life. I hope that Chris and family can take comfort in the rare fact that Michael left this earth in the heat of competition, with his son, in the pursuit of the things he loved. If given a choice, he most likely wouldn't have it any other way.
I worked with Mike in the 1980's at Alcan. He always had a smile on his face. We had a small reunion a few years ago and had a blast reminiscing about the old times. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. He will surely be missed.

Dear Nadia, Michou, Christopher, & Tiffany, I am so sorry for and saddened by your loss. Michael was such a phenomenal, special man and will be missed dearly. I have many fond memories as a young kid growing up on Kings Mtn & Guilford Place, and later during the many fun times in your new home during high school and college. Clearly, he was taken too soon, but I am sure you have many wonderful memories that will keep his spirit alive. Much love, David Spingarn
