Obituary of Matthew J. Pellegrini
Matthew J. Pellegrini, 67, of Howell passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to the Great Kills section of Staten Island, and finally settling here in 1986. After serving in the National Guard, Matty worked as a technician for Verizon in Piscataway for 49 years. He liked to play pickle ball throughout Monmouth County, working out at Golds Gym in Howell and was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. The life of the party, Matty was very outgoing and known as a jokester. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading the Daily News, going to the beach, solving crossword puzzles and being a Mr. Fix-It. His wonderful personality and calm demeanor added to his ability to be a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Vincenza Pellegrini; and his in-laws, Silvio and Marie Bruno. Matty is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Pellegrini of Howell; son, Matthew F. Pellegrini of Ohio; daughter, Jessica Azzati and her husband, Anthony of Parsippany; two grandchildren, Ethan and Dylan; sister, Theresa Recca of Jackson; two nieces, Joanna Romanello and Dianna Santostefano and her husband, Jimmy; and nephew, F rank Recca and his wife, Diane.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Avenue, Farmingdale. Interment will be private. For those who desire, donations in memory of Matty may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
