Obituary of Susan Frances Fick

Susan F. “Mountain Dew Sue” Fick, 61, of Bradley Beach passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Hackensack Meridian Health Nursing & Rehabilitation, Shrewsbury.  She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to New Jersey in 1982.  Susan was a teacher and worked at Total Learning Center in Neptune for 10 years.  She was dedicated to helping the behavioral and learning disabled, but her passion for teaching went beyond the classroom.  Susan was a part of The Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. where she took her dogs to hospitals, nursing homes, and even ground zero.  Along with dog training, Susan loved training horses.  Living by the shore, she enjoyed bike riding and beachcombing. Susan also had a love for music and art forms.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Lillian Fick.  She is survived by a host of friends and her Great Dane, Atticus Finch. 

A gathering of friends will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name may be made to the Mid Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc.
