Obituary of William Sinclair Gibson
William Sinclair Gibson, 86, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Hackensack and raised in both Hackensack and Maryland. William had lived in Holmdel before settling in Freehold 20 years ago. He worked for IUOE Local 825 as an operating engineer for over 60 years. William was a member of the Surrey Downs community. In his younger years, he was a professional boxer and loved to train. William was a part of the golden and diamond gloves. He also enjoyed singing and playing the acoustic guitar. Along with his significant other of 48 years, Lorraine, he loved to travel and spend time at the beach.
William was predeceased by his daughter, Maria Gibson in 1994. He is survived by his significant other, Lorraine Guerrasio Burkart of Freehold Township; children, Katherine Black and her husband, Albert J. Black, Jr. of Red Bank, William E. Gibson and his wife, Anna of Toms River, and Susan Festa and her husband, Philip of Freehold Township; step-daughter, Mary Lynn Reardon and her husband, Michael of Freehold Township; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 6:30 PM. Inurnment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
