Condolences
I am so deeply saddened by this sudden knews. I am sending all my love and prayers to your entire family. I will never forget how much fun you had with my parents when you went out. He was a great man and too soon to have left this earth, but I will always know he loved his family and will always be watching over. We will be in touch with all of you in a short time, but if you ever need anything we are here.
Judy and I have known Al and Pat for 45 years. He and Pat have always shown themselves to be selfless volunteers as well as personal friends to me and to Judy and to many people whom they have touched through the years. I feel fortunate to have been a fellow fireman with Al over these years. Whether we were fighting a major fire lasting many hours, or responding to an accident call at 3 a.m. or merely pitching in at another cleanup or work detail at the firehouse, Al would be there with all of his experience as an Ex-chief, Life-member and all. Always a very down-to-earth guy, Al had a wealth of knowledge regarding construction details, automotive repairs, and business knowledge. He would selflessly share and apply this knowledge both for fire company and fire district business and with anyone who might ask him personally for his help or advice on something. Our community has lost a great friend and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him, as well as for many who may not have known the extent of his generosity towards his neighbors and to the community. It is very hard to say goodbye to a guy like Al. He was once in a life time.
So sorry to hear of Al's passing. I served on the Squankum Fire Company Auxillary with Pat in the late 70's and early 80's. I send my Sympathy to the family. I will keep you in my prayers.
To the Entire Pereira Family,
We send our most sincere condolences, Al welcomed me into the Squankum Fire Company in 1997 where he would talk to me about cars, boats and the body shop business for many hours. He was always willing to help me several times when my daughter crashed her car. He was a true craftsman of the trade. Thank you for your friendship and your Brotherhood at the Station.
Rest easy now we will take it from here Brother,
The Barnes
