Condolences
Mr Howcott was one of my music teachers at Shortridge High School. In my senior year (1967), he suggested I audition for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. My audition with Don Nuen (a former Shortridge music teacher) went well, and I was accepted into the choir. I dropped out for a few years as I moved to Houston, Texas and raised a family, but have been back in the choir since 1996. Mr. Howcott believed in me and that has made a huge difference in my life. I never got to thank him, so I hope his family will appreciate this post.
Mr. Howcott taught at Shortridge High School in Indianapolis when I was there and we all enjoyed having him as a teacher. He helped me a lot on the piano as well and I have never forgotten him and all his kindness so I wish all the best to his surviving family in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth J Harger

I knew Charlie from our years together at Indiana State University. We were both music majors. And when I pledged the fraternity he was in (Pi Lambda Phi) he used to tease me when I was a pledge. I would be walking down the hall and he'd hum or whistle a pitch and call out, "What note is that Paul?" [It was always some weird note like D flat or G minor.) Under his direction the fraternity staged off-Broadway quality musical productions for the fraternity talent shows.I still remember the black light one that had people gasping at the ending. I bet Charlie's already found a choir to conduct and has started arranging some very cool heavenly music.
Dear Family Members - Charlie was a big part of our High School experience at Marquette High School in Michigan City, IN. He was such a talented man and could draw talent out of high school kids like I've NEVER seen before or since! There's more beautiful music in heaven since he arrived.
Thank you for encouraging a love if music in my life. You will be missed Charlie. My condolences to your family.
I had the privilege of working with Charlie on many musical productions, as director with Charlie as music director. He was always a source of love and laughter, in addition to his substantial musical skills. He is greatly missed.
What a blessing his life has been, to have made such a positive influence on so many people!
May God bless the family during their time of loss. I work in Mt. Vernon and Mr. Howcott helped me in my transition to the Pocono area. He will be missed.
I am so sorry of Mr. Howcott's passing. He will be missed! I was lucky enough to be a student at Marquette High School when he was our Music Teacher. He did excellent job with our musicals and was a wonderful man with sense of humor and was appreciated and loved by all of us.
My deepest sympathy to the entire family for your loss. May our loving Father give the entire family sustenance and strength you need to continue cope with the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in your precious memories and love shared. May the words of 1 Peter 5:7 “ while you throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you” bring the entire family comfort and strength. Please accept my sincere condolences.
Our family would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Charles B. Howcott. Words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, and death is a truly painful enemy to the human family. Please take comfort in 2 promises from God’s Word the Bible. John 5:28,29 speaks of the resurrection, and Revelation 21:3,4 promises the time when death and mourning will be no more. Our prayers are with you.
