Obituary of Porfirio Costagliola
Porfirio “Paulie” Costagliola, 89, of Howell passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Monte di Procida, Italy, moved to the United States, and had lived in Brooklyn before settling in Howell. In 1968, Paulie founded the family owned and operated Red Moon Pizzeria in Howell. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and visited Italy frequently. Paulie liked to garden and play cards, especially Scopa. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Paulie was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Lucia Costagliola; sister, Rose Schiano; and brother, Americo Costagliola. He is survived by his daughters, Susie Rinaldi and her husband, Giosue of Howell, Emily Imperiale of Long Branch, and RoseMarie Guardascione and her husband, Giovanni of Fanwood; grandchildren, Michael Rinaldi and his wife, Rebecca, Maria Davis and her husband, Jeffrey, Lucia Greutert and her husband, Michael, Paul Rinaldi and his wife, Joy, Anthony Imperiale and his wife, Melissa, Paul Imperiale and his wife, Victoria, Susan Lugones and her husband, R.J., Gabriella Guardascione, and Daniela Guardascione; great grandchildren, Samantha, Natalia, Justin, Juliana, Vera, Josie, Lucy, and Leo; siblings, Connie Patton of Oakland, Julie Carpenito of Wayne, and Sal Costagliola and his wife, Kathy of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Maureen Costagliola of Orlando, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9, Howell.
