Obituary of Bruce C. Wallauer
Bruce C. Wallauer, 74, of Jackson, NJ passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, NJ. Born in Tamaqua, PA, Bruce was raised in Fairless Hills, PA and had lived in Lawrenceville, NJ for 35 years before settling in Jackson. Bruce served his country in the US Army from 1963 to 1967, including a tour in Vietnam. He went on to graduate from Temple University and worked as the Director of Flood Plain Management for the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for over 35 years, prior to his 2007 retirement. An avid reader, Bruce devoured any type of book he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed golfing in his spare time, and in most recent years, travelling to New Smyrna Beach, FL for the winter.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Wallauer of Jackson, NJ; daughter, Stacey Fitzsimons and her husband, Neil of Wall, NJ; son, Rob Wallauer and his wife, Maryellen of Titusville, NJ; and five grandchildren, Braeden, Gaby, Lily, Nina and Emme. He was predeceased by his brother, Philip Wallauer, and is survived by his brother, Thomas Painter and his wife, Janice of Pennington, NJ; and two nieces, Amy Montgomery and Katie Painter.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Memorial Mass on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Inurnment will follow in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bruce may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
