Obituary of Patricia Sfaelos
Patricia, Pat, Sfaelos, age 80 of Freehold Township passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center. Pat was born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark and moved to Freehold Township in 1971. Pat followed her Mother’s passion and became an elementary teacher who taught for most of her career at West Freehold School. She retired from Applegate School in 2007. A dedicated teacher, Pat could always be found surrounded by her students especially in her lunch bunch, playing jeopardy and silent ball. Her favorite subjects to teach were Math and History. She loved attending movies and participating in book club with her friends. Pat was an avid sports fan who grew up with a passion for the Yankees, the Giants and the underdog of any game. Pat loved the beach, especially Ocean Beach, NJ where she would spend summers riding waves and playing cards with her family. Above all, Pat was a loving mother and grandmother.
Pat was predeceased by her brother and best friend, Eugene “Uncle” Reilly, Jr.. Pat is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Sfaelos of Wall Twp, Kristy Sfaelos and her husband, Allan Landmesser of Somerset, and Lauren Sfaelos and her partner, John Jones III of Egg Harbor Township; grandchildren, Zachary, Collin, and Ryan; her sister-in-law, Karen Reilly of Little Egg Harbor; two nieces, Kathleen Reilly and Jennifer Grant; and her grand-nephew and grand-niece.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 2:00 to 5:30 PM. Relatives and friend are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Memorial Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Inurnment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required.
