Obituary of Vita Lyda Chambers

Vita Lyda Chambers, 72, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center at Brick surrounded by her family. She was born in Newark, raised in Belleville, and had lived in Kearny and North Arlington before settling in Howell in 1987. Vita worked as a Door Greeter for Sam’s Club, formerly Pace Club, in Freehold. She was a leader for the Girl Scout troop 559 for many years. Vita enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She was caring in nature, which led to her passion for animals. Above all, Vita was a loving wife, mother, and friend.

She was predeceased by her three brothers, Jerry, Joe, and Anthony Barlotta. Vita is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gregory; daughter, Lisa Chambers of Howell; her gradpup, Lucky; a brother, Nick Barlotta; a sister, Theresa Benigno; many loving nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 33 years, Linda Townsley, her husband Dave, and their daughter, Amy.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Funeral Home.
