Obituary of Kenneth Springer

Kenneth Springer, 77, of Monroe Township passed away on July 28,2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by his family. Ken was born in Brooklyn NY, raised in Bayside Queens, graduated from St. John’s University and joined the Marine Corps. He honorably served his country as a Captain in the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1968. Ken settled on Long Island to raise his family, worked at IBM and eventually moved to Freehold, NJ and retired after 31 years. He was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, an active member of the Corporal Philip A. Reynolds Detachment Marine Corps League, and a volunteer for American Recreational Military Services (A.R.M.S.) supporting our troops at home and overseas. Ken loved spending time with his children and was so proud of all of his grandchildren.

Ken was predeceased by his brother, Jack Springer and most recently his dear sister-in-law, Karen Springer. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Lucille Centonze-Springer of Monroe Township; his three children, Laura O’Toole and her husband, Bill of Freehold, Kevin Springer and his wife, Terri of Commack, NY and Craig Springer of Commack, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brianna Springer of Commack, NY, Brandon Springer of Commack, NY, Grace Springer of Commack NY, Meagan Ellis of Freehold, Matthew Ellis of Freehold, Tommy O’Toole of Freehold, Chris O’Toole of Freehold, and Patrick O’Toole of Freehold. He will be missed by his younger brother, Ron Springer in Texas; his niece, Monika; and nephews, Chris, Randy and Ron, Jr. Ken also leaves behind his beloved and loyal four-legged companion, ChaChi.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM funeral mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Face masks will be required.
