Mark was a neighbor at Ocean Harbor Apartments. I only had 5 or 6 encounters with him, and in one encounter, Mark helped me carry something up the stairs in the building. He only told me after the fact that he was receiving chemotherapy treatments for lung cancer, but he still offered to help. I learned at that encounter that he was obviously a very kind, humble, soft-spoken, & generous person. Another time I ran into him in the hallway during the covid lockdown, as he was picking up a good delivery & in asking him how he was doing, he didn't complain, was smiling and said he was good, just unnerved by the pandemic, as we all were. Later that night I knocked on his door, told him I was leaving soup for him & that he didn't have to come out, yet he did to thank me. Sometimes we can only have a few encounters with someone& they can leave an impression upon us; Mark was one of those people. Today I met Mark's sister & brother-in-law, two very nice people who shared some other lovely things about Mark and the beautiful video his sister made for him. It was inspiring to meet you, Mark; rest in paradise.
