Obituary of Mark A. Christie

Mark A. Christie, 54 of Belmar passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  Mark was born in Red Bank and raised in Holmdel.  He lived in Eatontown and Ocean Gate before moving to Belmar.  For the past twenty-five years, he was a clerk for the United States Post Office in Eatontown and Trenton.  Mark was a passionate musician, with the talent to play the guitar, piano, the bass guitar, and the drums.  He was a member of Off Duty and Spare Change and could be found playing throughout New Jersey.  Mark had a love for travel especially his trips to the Caribbean, mainly St. John’s.  He was a loyal fan of the NJ Devils and the NY Mets.  Mark was very astute in the kitchen but where he found harmony was being at the beach. 

Mark was predeceased by his mother, Bertha in 2003.  He is survived by his father, David Christie, Sr.; a brother, David Christie, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Freehold; a sister, Susan Lally and her husband Peter, of Jackson; two nephews, Andrew Christie, Thomas Lally; and two nieces, Alexandra Christie and Kristen Lally. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM funeral service on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, 448 Tennent Road, Manalapan, NJ 07726.  Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Mark may be made to Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
