Dave,
I will definitely miss you pulling into my driveway every weekend to shoot the breeze with Pete and the boys. I usually don't come outside because I'm busy but I always came out when I saw you in the driveway. You always made me laugh and joked about everything and anything. You were just that genuine, down to earth guy that had stories to tell when someone listened. My kids will never forget the amazing dinner you and Cathy cooked for them in your kitchen. The best Burritos and Enchiladas ever!!! which you promised they would be! You were also one of the best friends to my husband and we are saddened beyond words. Cathy, Heather, Steve, and April have a guardian angel at their side now and what a guardian angel you will be! I'm sure you are rocking and rolling the heavens with the best of them. Rest in peace my friend.
Claire
Dear Dave Rest in Peace! Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight? Love Aunt Dee

Love Cousin Lisa and Family
While we hadn’t spoken of late, it was deeply saddening to hear of your passing. Whatever the nickname, “Flathead Dave” or “Batman” as you came to be known when you were with Ms G & Da Guyz, it was a joy and a learning experience to have worked with you over the decades. I learned a little bit about classic cars and a lot more about music and sound.
Gary enjoyed your company and playing, and that you laughed at his jokes and enjoyed the seafood he cooked for you when we had Summer day gigs. Let the music play on as you rest in peace and power. Sending our deepest condolences, love, light, prayers and positive energy to Cathy and the family. It is our hope that they can take comfort and solace in the great love and memories you shared throughout your life together and those that we’re all sharing about you.
I first met Dave in the early 80's thru another friend in our Corvair club. Once we knew we both played music we started on a long friendship wrapped around the cars and playing music.
I was also fortunate to meet Larry "Lowrider" Hunter at Dave's house and got to play some great blues, surf rock, early rock & roll "B" sides that only Dave would know all the words to.
I'll miss Dave calling me every 10 - 15 days to ask "hey, where you been?" and just checkin' in if I hadn't stopped by in a while.
I would do the same and call and ask Dave "hey, what's happenein'" and Dave would answer as if I was really asking what was actually going on and he'd respond - "I don't know".
Nobody but Dave would race a Rambler American at the South Jersey Sports Car Club of America Solo II Autocross series.
We both built most of a Corvair to run/race at Pocono on the road course in 3 nights, all the suspension, drive train, brakes etc.
I'll always view Dave as one of my best friends and as an older brother of which I have 2 and don't use that term lightly.
I'll gage my projects against what I know Dave would do or expect.
"Hot Dog", as Dave would say when my kids were younger.
Travel on my friend and always go for the "Key of D"!
Dave branded me Superdave,I met Dave around 1987-88 when I lived across the street from him on 10th and Lexington when I worked at PL custom body.My co worker Kevin Johnson told me they needed a bass player.,lol little did I know it was across the street at Dave’s...I joined quail hunter blues band after his good friend Larry had to leave.Dave taught me how to play in a real band, this is where I cut my teeth playing.Dave,superdave,Kevin,Glen...we always had players stopping in to jam...Arnie brown on guitar he just finished a tour with Otis rush and the coasters.,old Charlie the clarinet guy big band style....Sasquatch on harp and his sidekick Norman on percussion,Dewey on lead guitar who was best friends with my Uncle Tom,Rob lead guitar...sax player rich and his dad on keys who I invited by my friends from cassville and so on and so forth...some memorable gigs...blues fest in Asbury on the roof of Howard Johnson’s with big Danny,Bobby burleson and the bang...I think a lightning storm happened and we had to shut down,First annual bennies go home party at chucks in manasquan.,a blues wedding at winklemans in Lakewood for my buddy joe and Brian,a few double billed gigs with us and the sonny kenn band...reed sod farm parties...best macaroni salad ever...4th Avenue Asbury park home studio jams...right on up to the elks jams and Gary c’s blues jams and to I believe the last time he played at my place right before the first wave hit... me,Dave and lenny lazaski and it was raw and unfiltered let me tell you...Dave liked his echoplex, magnatone amps, his basement was lined with egg crates to deaden the sound...best was when he took out his harmony Strat-o-tone and plugged into an old Marshall Super Lead 100 watt head and cabinet and it would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up....on and on and on Dave you will be sorely missed one of a kind dude and my life is better to have known you and did all we did while you were here....superdave
Dave has left an emptiness in his friends and family's hearts. They will never forget their memories of him or his love. Deepest Sympathies to all his family
David: I will miss seeing you on the road, at your place or the flea market. You always had time for me even if you were busy. You were a good friend and have left us all to soon.
Dave, So saddened by your passing. Always loved running into you at Collingswood Auction and seeing your latest classic car restoration project, but particularly loved your passion for 8 Track tapes! Never got to see your infamous "Wall of Sound" speaker system hooked up to an 8 Track player. Lots of fun talking about them and "Penny's perfect Pizza Place" inside C-Wood. Always said anyone who loves 8 Tracks can't be all that bad : )
Will miss you...
Rest in Peace. You introduced me to the “open jam” An obsession I never got over You’ll be missed. Condolences to your family They were lucky to have you. Anytime someone mistakenly calls me Horshak I’ll remember your calling me that with your big smile. RIP
God rest your soul Dave, May your family find peace in their lives knowing you have made it to your final destination. May the heavens be filled with your music and your energy.
Walt Doberentz
I met Dave at crossroads blues jam and Asbury park over 15 years ago. He made me feel welcome and deserving to share the stage with him and Gary Cavico. Another fine talented musician. I will never forget his friendship and warm smile. Setup the gig and I will jam again with you in heaven’s greatest Band!
I always enjoyed when Dave was able to attend our rehearsals and jobs. He made my day every time he was around. Dave will always be remembered for living in the moment and enjoying life.
Rest easy Dave knowing you brought a smile to others.
Goodbye Dave ; may you rest in peace and your family find comfort as you are called home . Whether on a stage or at a back yard barb-b-que , the gigs we played together were among the best in my experience as a musician . I am better off for having known you and will not forget the skill and dedication you brought to our art . John Wolf
