Hey Family, here’s to the generosity and friendship of our best brother-in-law. When we were growing up, we had the good fortune of having this big brother to somehow help us navigate thru losing our parents.
One of my most heartfelt memories is when I was in my senior year of college. Rod gave me a shit-ass Volkswagen Beetle (which was his car in college a few years prior, and I’m pretty sure was 100 years old before he got it) —his condition was that I had to come home once a month, which I did. I loved that car, not only because it was so rusted that you could see the street under your feet, but it gave me a freedom and sense of being an adult. And maybe it made me feel like an adult—not such a scared kid not knowing what was next. That gave me confidence to launch into adulthood. Still scary. Yet somebody had my back. Thank you Roderick Andrew Gilmore. Hope to see you again
