Obituary of Roderick Andrew Gilmore

Roderick Andrew Gilmore, 69, of Freehold Township passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at home.  He was born in 1951 in Fairmont, WV, raised in Verona, NJ and had also lived in West Orange, NJ before settling here in 1998. A proud graduate of North Carolina State University, Rod worked as a traffic engineer for the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation for over 30 years.  In retirement, he worked part time for MBO Engineering, Fieldsboro.  Rod loved to bowl and travel, especially going on cruises. 

Rod is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Daria Jakimowska of Freehold Township; children, Julia Dowd and her husband, Robert of Lincroft, Andrew Gilmore and his wife, Faye of Point Pleasant, Bryan Gilmore and his wife, Jackie of Freehold and Adam Pogorzelski and his fiancée, Margaret Kozdeba of Farmington, CT; grandchildren, Brenna Dowd, Justin Gould, Lila Dowd, Mia Dowd, Harry Gilmore, Lincoln Gilmore and Jane Gilmore; siblings, Joann LaBrunda and her husband, Michael of Leland, NC and John Gilmore and his wife, Elaine of Brunswick, GA; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment is private.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required.
