Obituary of Teresa Angela Suida
Teresa Angela Suida, 90, of Ridgewood Queens passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. She was born in Tufo, Avellino, Italy and migrated to Brooklyn in her early 20’s before settling in Ridgewood Queens 47 years ago. Teresa was the proud mother of five beautiful children and ten grandchildren. Among the many things she loved was the delicious preparation of authentic Italian cuisine. She was known for her cooking, particularly the art of making healthy organic meals for her family. They will forever cherish her recipes that she has passed down onto the younger generations. Other hobbies were tending to her beautiful garden where she grew a variety of flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs. Teresa was also naturally gifted with an eye for exquisite fashion designing and was knowledgeable in fabric qualities and sewing details. She took great pride in having been granted a U.S. Design Patent for her invention called the Spa Scrub Rub.
Teresa was an altruistic person who put others first. Her beautiful smile spread joy to others. She was kind and generous and taught her family her values to always be close to God.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Silvana Onorato in 2005; and her grandson, Vincent Onorato in 2006. Teresa is survived by her children, Yolanda Gimbruno and her husband, Frank of Upstate, NY, Paula Shemitz and her husband, Joseph of Middle Village, NY, Nicholas Suida, of Ridgewood, NY, Kathy Dell’Anno and her husband, Robert of Colts Neck, NJ; Nine grandchildren, Steven, Margherita, Marie, Nicole, Robert, Christopher, Nicolette, Teresa and Sophia; and her sister, Josephine Aufiero of Italy.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 382 Onderdonk Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Ave, Queens, NY 11379.
