Anita W. Dorey, 90, of Farmingdale passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Ocean Medical Center. She was born in Asbury Park, grew up in Spring Lake Heights and West Belmar, and had graduated from Manasquan High School in 1948 before settling to Farmingdale in 1960. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church and was a council woman in Farmingdale. Prior to her retirement as the Assistant Bus Coordinator for the Howell Township Board of Education, she was a school bus driver for many years. She handled Dog Census Licensing for dogs in town and was a member of the Farmingdale Howell First Aid Auxiliary where she served as President and treasurer. Anita was also a Monmouth County Municipal Associate Treasurer, member of the Farmingdale Historical Society, and part of the safety commission of Monmouth County First Aid 23rd District.
She was predeceased by her husband, Christopher Dorey; and granddaughter, April Dorey. Anita is survived by her children, Terry Grubby and her husband, James of Brick, Chris Dorey and his wife, Karen of Brick, William Dorey of Farmingdale, Peter Dorey of Richmond, Maine and JoAnn Megill and her husband, Ronald of Toms River; grandchildren, Christopher Grubby, Stephanie Carney, Caitlyn Dorey-Estelle, Kyle Dorey, Nicole Dorey, George Silvers, Christopher Silvers, Megan Greco, and Jennifer Esposito; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 9:00 AM Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold.
