Condolences
So saddened to hear this news. He was the loveliest man and a great leader. He recently shared a story about driving a patient home because he was stranded at the hospital. He was exceedingly kind. Always funny too! I am sending love and peace to your family.

Mr. Shanahan was an amazing person. he ALWAYS had time to speak with you, to help you when needed. Many times I had asked his advice while going for my Master's Degree and he always was encouraging and helpful. It was heartbreaking hearing the news as he was the heart and soul of Raritan Bay. He is going to be missed! God Bless him and his family.
I heard this sad news over the weekend. I haven’t seen Tom in years. Still I recall with a smile all the Shanahan boys . My Mom ( Mary Kelly) was a close friend of the family. We spent many picnics and social events together. One of them was sweeter than the next. Always willing to lend a hand or a kind word. I will pray for all of you during this unspeakable loss. I remain so very sorry.
Tom was a treasured colleague, client and, most important, friend. His calm demeanor, even in difficult circumstances, will be missed by all. I first met him as Controller at St. Elizabeth's Hospital (now Trinitas) and had the good fortune to work with and for him through the rest of my career. There are too many terrific memories to relate here, but when my time comes, I pray that Tom will be waiting for me at the Pearly Gates to fill out his foursome for a round at Augusta. My deepest condolences to Andrea and his family. Slainte my friend!
With Sincere Sympathy to The Shanahan Family..
I hope you will understand
Although these words are few

Your loss is shared by many
Who knew your loved one well

How very much we care
May you feel the strength of God
As we hold you close in prayer.

My deepest condolence to the Shanahan Family. I remember Tom when he was a Controller for Saint Elizabeth Hospital. He always had a smile on his face and was able to get you to put a smile on yours. Tom was a Kind Gentle Soul and I pray he Rest in Peace.
My deepest condolences to the Shanahan family. Tom was a person that had an ability to always make you feel special. I met Tom at the annual institute years ago and looked forward each year to this conference, because I knew I would meet up with Tom and was in for a night of laughter. Tom will be missed by many.
I have known Tom for 25 years and had the privilege to work for him for 15 of those years. He was a great listener and his number one priorities were always the patients and his staff/employees. With his infectious smile, he was a great motivator and always cared for you as a person. He was quite simply, the greatest boss I had over such a long period of time.
I worked with Tom many years ago at RWJUH Rahway and have very fond memories. I am truly sorry for the Shanahan families loss. Tom was larger than life and I am sure that your many wonderful memories will keep Tom alive forever in your hearts and minds. With Sympathy, Kirk Tice
My wife Kelly and I extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to Andrea and all of Tom's family. He was truly one of a kind and words cannot express the impact he had on me and so many others. We started out as softball rivals in the old hospital softball league and then worked together for the first time in 1993. Through the years, Tom became a friend that I was fortunate enough to work with every day. His empathy for others and his sense of humor never took a break, even when he wasn't feeling himself. So many memories, so many funny stories while tackling some of the most difficult issues. I'm a better man for having known him, working under his direction and influence. Tom showed everyone how to get things done with his calm demeanor and decisive action. He was an all things considered kind of guy who would listen to anyone who spoke to him, no one was any more important than anyone else. When so many of us know how to talk, Tom was one of the few who knew how to listen. God knows he listened to enough from me over the years, LOL. Tom, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you've done for me and my family. You will always be remembered, and I will hold you in my heart as one of my dearest friends forever! Rest in the peace you so truly deserve Tom, I love you.

I will miss him. -Theresa Dowd

To Tom's family,
My thoughts and prayers at with you at this difficult time. Please take solace in the fact that Tom impacted many people during his life and I was one of them. Tom and I were both colleagues and friends. Having worked in the NJ healthcare industry our entire careers and both of us being very active in the HFMA we shared many great memories, either at meetings or social events, especially golf. I fondly remember our golfing in a rock quarry in Arizona in 110 degree heat or strolling down Bourbon street in New Orleans during an HFMA leadership training conference enjoying our 64 oz. beers! Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

Sincere condolences to the Shanahan Family - please know that we share your loss and our prayers are with you during this difficult time.
What a sad day to hear.of your passing Mr. Shanahan. You were the nicest kindest gentlest soul ever. I thank you for the pleasure of working with you for many years at Raritan Bay Medical Center. My sincere condolences to your family may they find peace. God needed another angel. Rest easy and God bless fly high with the angels.
I was a little unsure if I should take the job at RBMC until I interviewed with Tom. From the moment I met him I knew I would love working with him. The completion of the Old Bridge surgical building, the trips to report to the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and the merger into Meridian Health are a few of our successes. I enjoyed meeting Andrea and will never forget you and my Lenny enjoying cigars and cocktails on the beach. My Lenny is already in Heaven and I told him to “get the cigars ready as Shanahan is on his way up”. God bless you my friend.
Dear Andrea and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was one of a kind, a mentor, a coach, a listener and a friend. He was loved by all. He taught me so much and I will cherish every moment I got to spend with him. My prayers are with you all and wish you all peace. We will all keep Tom's memory in the forfront of our minds and continue to make him proud.
Today the world lost an amazing funny gentle giant. I can not express in words how much you will be missed Thomas Shanahan. To know I will no longer get your calls at any time of day hearing you say “HELLOOOO” or telling me I’m on speed dial. And the many times you recognized me just for taking care of RBMC (which was my job). I will miss you beyond anything you could imagine. You touched everyone with your caring thoughtful way of listening, sharing, understanding. You cannot be replaced and I do not understand why you had to go. I am heart broken and will find comfort that God needed you more than we did, but with the world today, that seems hard to believe. One of a kind person and another great Irishmen. Today truly is a very sad day.
My heart goes out to your family. They are in my thoughts and prayers. - Peg Kauth
