Obituary of Ronald D. Scott
Ronald D. Scott, 64, of Freehold Township passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Paterson, raised in Pompton Lakes, and had lived in Sussex County with his wife before settling here in 1995. He worked for MetLife Insurance in Manhattan for over 24 years. Ronald was a survivor of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks where he bravely descended from the 89th floor to help save people, including helping to carry a 70 year old woman to safety. Post 9/11, Ronald was a real estate agent for Weichert Real Estate in Howell and had worked at QuickChek in Wall. Ronald enjoyed gardening and going to the beach, but more than anything, he loved being with his family.
He was predeceased by his father, Desmond Scott. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Janis Scott of Freehold Township; daughter, Ashley Scott of Freehold Township; mother, Caroline Scott of Brick; and in-laws, John and Joan Battilana of Toms River.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the funeral home for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Entombment will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
