Obituary of Judy Frances Smith

Dr. Judy Frances Smith, 74, of Brick passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.  She fought a valiant and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer for over three years.  Judy worked in the Asbury Park School District as a high school math teacher and district supervisor for K-12 for 33 years prior to retiring from public education.  She was a full-time professor at Monmouth University where she taught classes and supervised student teachers.  Judy was a math consultant for the New Jersey Department of Education in the CAPA Division.  This remarkable and accomplished woman earned a Doctorate in Math Education from Rutgers University, as well as an Honorary Doctorate in Excellence in Teaching from Monmouth University.

 

Judy was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Margarette Smith; and her brother, Ronald Patrick Smith.  She is survived by her life partner, Donna Mitchell; sister, Gail Smith and her husband, Russell Thompson; brother, Michael Smith and his wife, Gloria and their children Stephanie and Leslie; brother-in-law, John Costanza; sister-in-law, Joan C. Smith; nephew, Drew Smith and his children, Abigale and Tyler; and her niece, Diana Keil and her husband, James, and their children, Jules and Lexie.
