Condolences
The Torre family will really miss Charlie❤️ Tough on the outside, but so soft & loving in the inside. We were lucky to have to have the pleasure of knowing Charlie. If he loved you, you were family! We will miss his smile and presence. May Charlie Rest In Peace now. Xoxo
To my cigar loving buddy, miss sitting in the yard with you and hearing all of your stories about your childhood, how proud you were as a grandfather. From seeing your grandkids take their first steps, learning to drive and heading off to college. I also loved talking about the Yankees and their chances of making the World Series that year. You will be missed greatly but I will always cherish our memories together. And one more thing, no more chicken!
Uncle Charlie was so much more than an uncle. He was always there for me, Anna and Michael. He took us on road trips upstate, cracked jokes when my father was in a bad mood, or dropped off clothes from his work in the garment district for us ‘just because’. I'll never forget when he and my dad would stay up late into the night talking and laughing -- so late all of us cousins would collapse onto a bed, laughing and talking and falling asleep before they called it a night. I remember doing that quite a few times.
I loved him like a father and always will. I'll miss so many things but most of all the way he called me and Anna 'my girls.' And of course calling Bogie the 'Pollack' every time. I cry but also smile as I look through these photos. I like to think he’s been reunited with my dad and Michael again, reminiscing and laughing. And we’ll remember the good times, celebrate him and try to do the same.
My Uncle Charlie was more than a favorite uncle, he was like a second father to me. Wherever he went he took his 'other kids'-the Gajdos kids - whether it was upstate to Lemko or to the beach he always looked out for us. One of my favorite memories was when he came to my house to take photos with me on my wedding day. He was so happy and I was thrilled he was there. I will miss his teasing, infectious laugh and most of all his warm affection. He will always have a place in my heart.
One of my favorite memories I have with my Didor is when he would take me to Point Pleasant at the end of summer every year. We would go get lunch and then walk the boardwalk to the very end and back. We would look at all the houses that were placed by the beach. Then he would get me ice cream. I loved going to Point Pleasant with my Didor and will always remember the other great memories we shared.
I will never forget spilling spaghetti all over the floor and walls the first time meeting Dido. He surprisingly laughed and my forever nickname was “clumsy”. He also always called me “pani” (princess).
When I was little, I was lucky enough to have Baba and Dido take me along with them to our house in the Poconos every once in a while. I’ll never forget the long snowy drive up and listening to Slovak music along the way.
Dido would make these beautiful wooden figures to post along the driveway and yard. He had one of my dog, Sammy.
I will always cherish our various memories on those trips and how blessed I am to have those experiences.
