Obituary of Betty L. Reuter

Betty L. Reuter, 74, of Farmingdale passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born and raised in Jersey City and attended Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Betty married the love of her life, Bill, in 1968, and was a devoted Army housewife. Betty and Bill lived in Germany, Hawaii, and other locations in the United States before settling in New Jersey in 1989 with their four children. She also worked as a Legal Secretary for 20 years for Cooper, Rose & English in Rumson. Betty enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and friends, most notably to Europe, Israel, the Caribbean and the Pacific. She was a very active member of the Roman Catholic Church, and a strong contributor to her church community. Betty and Bill were members of Marriage Encounter and Voluntas Dei religious organizations and were also Eucharistic Ministers in the many parishes they belonged to. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Catherine Grossi. Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Bill Reuter, Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army, Retired. In addition, Betty leaves behind her devoted loving family: children, Bill Reuter Jr., and his wife, Debbie, Janice Attardi and her husband, Dave, Dan Reuter and his wife, Lori, and Joe Reuter and his wife, Tara; grandchildren, Aaron, Amy, Stephen, Robbie, Tess, Chase, Abby, Jack, and Dylan; and brother, Jack Grossi and his wife, Sharon.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Funeral Home for the procession to her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
