Obituary of Mary Hall

Mary Hall, 99, of Farmingdale passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  Mary was born and raised in Bradley Beach.  She moved to Farmingdale in 1955 after she was married to her husband Bill. Mary was a member and former president of Amalgamated Garment Workers of America and had worked as a seamstress for Nappe-Smith Manufacturing and J.A. Cissell Manufacturing both located in Farmingdale. Her husband Bill was born and raised in Farmingdale and she enjoyed the small town life.  Mary was a fifty-year member of the Farmingdale First United Methodist Church, past president and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Farmingdale Fire Department.  She was especially proud to accompany her husband in the Farmingdale Memorial Day Parade when he was  Grand Marshall in 2008.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, reading “love stories”, and was always quick with a joke.  Mary was always drawn to the ocean.  Her and Bill went on several cruises and spent many winters in Florida.  In her later years, just taking a ride to see the ocean gave her great pleasure.  Nothing meant more to her than family and friends especially in the past year with her new friends at Table 1.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, William R. Hall; a daughter, Linda Houseal; and two sisters, Caryl Skok, and Freda Tilton.  She is survived by her children, Leslie Dempsey and her husband, John of Wayside and James Hall and his wife, Barbara of Wall; son-in-law, Robert Houseal of Brielle; grandchildren, John Dempsey and his partner, Kevin Meehan, Bill Dempsey and his girlfriend, Jordanna Riggi, Pia Houseal, Garrett Houseal and his wife, Danielle, Alexa Labresco and her husband, Dominic, Glenn Hall and his wife, Sepha, Steven Hall, and Douglas Hall and his wife, Tara.  Mary also had nine great grandchildren, Ty, Dahlin, Alex, Graham, Dylan, Reid, Keira, Alex and Zack. And not to be left out, her great grand puppy, Maggie, who visited her often.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Howell.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the Farmingdale Fire Company, 54 Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
