Obituary of Elke Puhala

Elke Puhala, 72, of Freehold passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold. The daughter of Otto Geiger & Frieda Mengel Geiger, Elke was born in Hamburg, Germany and came the United States in 1952.  She had lived in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, Sea Bright, and Middletown before settling in Freehold. She earned her Bachelors degree from Monmouth University. Elke was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, West Long Branch and King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown.  She retired as an auditor from the Internal Revenue Service.

Elke was predeceased by her husband, Michael Puhala in 2019.  She is survived by her son, Michael Scott Puhala; a brother, Manfred Geiger and his wife, Suzanne; a sister, Ursula Cuthbertson and her husband, Leonard; five nephews; and three nieces.
